Picasa and the Mac

Google is reminding its users that it really does quite like the Mac, and so has created a Mac Blog.  They've also put together a page that showcases Google's software downloads for the Mac which includes the Picasa Web Albums Uploaders, which were introduced at the beginning of August.

Picasa also got a further mention on Google's blogs, with an entry on Helpful Resources, which talks about the U2U (User to User) groups which provide support for a number of Google products - including Google Desktop, Toolbar, Picasa, Maps, Calendar.

So far Google's Mac support has been better than some, but weak overall.

Judging by the sudden jump in the number of Mac users posting albums to Picasa Web Albums today, I'd say that there were a good number of Mac users who had not heard of the uploaders available to them until Google chose to (re)announce them in this way.

Thanks Google for making Picasa available for Mac and incorporating it into the iPhoto software. Very nice!

I agree it's nice of google to provide mac users with the ability to send pictures to Web Albums. However, I would much prefer if a full version of picasa was released to run on the OS X unix environment. After all, with the linux version already available, most of the work to make a mac version is already completed. Unfortunately I'm skeptical that this will happen anytime soon because google is reluctant to put out a product that directly competes with one of Apple's prided products. Lame business policy if you ask me which at the end of the day hurts the user.
