SpreadHello - another abandonned blog
SpreadHello is a blog and information site about Hello - the instant message client from Picasa. It seems to have been active between July and November 2005, but not to have been updated since.
However the content is at least still kept available, and may be of passing interest. There is a FAQ, and a brief Getting Started page, though the support forum which had some useful questions and answers on is gradually becoming overrun with spam posts.

Hey Zmarties!
I was one of the writers for SpreadHello (as you can see from the last few posts on the site).
Yogarine started the site, and invited me and several others along to help promote Hello (to the delight of the Picasa Team).
Unfortunately, we soon received word that Google would unviel a new chat program, pushing Hello to the side.
One of the authors decided to help promote the new Google Talk and joined the Spread Google Talk team.
I think Hello is (unfortunately) finished as Google Talk now includes file sharing (and photo sharing as well).
Oh well, perhaps Hello will be used by the Old schoolers like us. ;)
I'm a great fan of gtalk, but still I don't think it replaces Hello at all, I need Hello too. I would be so happy if Google added the features of Hello to GTalk!
Hello allows me to send in one go 1000 pictures of my last holliday to my mother living 20000 Km away, then she would herself choose the pace and which pictures to see while I comment them and answer her questions (via Google Talk - voice), and I can see which picture she is looking at. Is like having her next to me while showing her a photo album.
Hello resizes the photos and converts them to progressive jpg, and sends the thumbnails first, so the other side can immediatelly start looking at the pictures and skip the ones they don't want to see. Having that already developed, I think integrating it with gtalk would bring Google a great differentiator and make it spread a lot more than the competition.
